Margaret Daly 1846 - 1914. The youngest daughter and 6th of
8 children of Michael Daly (farmer} and Mary O'Brien. She was
born in Glen of Aherlow, County Tipperary. She emigrated to Australia
in about 1864.
married Thomas Parker Phillips on 23 April 1874 at St Stephen's
Cathedral, Brisbane. A notice of the marriage appeared in both
The Queenslander The Brisbane Courier, the local papers of the
day. A copy of the original announcements is on the National Archives
of Australia Trove website. Her age at marriage and at death according
to her death certificate disagrees with other records including
the Galbally Baptismal Register which shows her baptism in September
1846 - notably in the early years of the Great Potato Famine (1845-1852)
during which saw one million people dying and about the same number
emigrating from Ireland.
It would be another seven years before her next younger sibling,
Daniel Daly, was born in 1853 in Lisvarrinane, Tipperary. This
seven year gap in births in the family may be attributable to
a saddler, was born in Stonehouse, Gloucester England . He was
24 years when he married Margaret. These details were provided
by his brother Charles William Phillips according to Thomas's
death certificate. Tom and Margaret lived in Tribune Street in
South Brisbane. Margaret died 28 October 1914 at the Mater Public
Hospital. Margaret was 63 years of age and died from peripheral
neuritis and heart failure. She was buried the following day at
South Brisbane ( Dutton Park) Cemetery.

in Australia for about 50 years. It also says she had two deceased
children, 1 Male & 1 Female.
says that the boy was Thomas Phillips born 4 September 1881. She
said that she could not find the girl's record on Birth, Deaths
and Marriage Register (micro fiche file). She continues.
you look up the Toowong cemetery you will find Thomas Phillips
buried 6-9-1881 and with him a Phillips buried 4-3-1885. These
two would have to be the children of Margaret and Thomas".

died 13 years later on 19 December 1927 just before the start
of the Great Depression. He is buried in the same plot. Below
